History of the breed Welsh Pony Section C and D

The Welsh pony sections C and D are the result of crossing section A with horses belonging to the Romans. Later, the Spanish horse, the Norfolk Trotter, the Hackneys and the Yorkshire Coach Horse were also used. The 4 stallions had a major influence on their development: Trotting Come, a trotter, True Briton, a cross between a trotter and an Arabian, Cymro Llwyd, also a cross between a trotter and an Arabian and the last was Alfonzo the Brave, a hackney. These gave their offspring trotting potential and a distinctive Arabian appearance. The difference between the two sections is only in height, section C being smaller.
