History of the breed Welsh Pony Section A

The Welsh A section pony is the oldest British pony breed. Its origins date back to Julius Caesar, who established a stud farm at Lake Baly. He probably also had these ponies bred with Arabian Thoroughbreds. Section A is the smallest and probably the oldest of all Welsh ponies. A studbook was established in the early 20th century. It includes one of the most important stallions, Dyoll Starlight.
