History of the breed Dutch Warmblood

Its ancestors were the Groningen, Gelderland, English Thoroughbred, Thracian and Oldenburg Warmbloods. The Dutch Warmblood is a relatively young breed, but its breeding is very strict. Only the best breeding animals are selected through rigorous testing. This has turned the Dutch Warmblood into a very high quality sport horse sought after by many riders for various disciplines.

Lovely horses with a head of the thoroughbred type. The neck is muscular, the chest is deep. The back is straight and firm with a well-muscled rump. The limbs are firm with strong joints and hard hooves. The coat may be white, brown, pure or black. At the withers they grow to 155 - 165 cm.

The Dutch Warmblood is a versatile sporting breed. It has made a name for itself especially in show jumping, where it has gained much success. It is also good in dressage, less suitable for the military.
