History of the Anglo-Arab breed

A relatively new breed that was created by crossing Arab and English thoroughbreds in the 19th century. An Arabian stallion and an English mare are usually crossed. This results in bigger and better individuals than when crossing an Arabian mare and an English stallion. An Anglo-Arab must have at least 25% Arab blood and must not be crossed with another breed. Only Arab and English thoroughbreds and Anglo-Arabs must appear in the pedigree.

Body structure of the Anglo-Arab breed

They like horses with a compact build. The head is delicate with Arabic features, sometimes with a slight pike profile. The eyes are large and lively. The neck is arched. The shoulders are strong and the shoulder blades allow for quick, fluid movement. The chest is deep, the back is massive and strong. Limbs are well formed, with strong bones and strong joints. The hooves are of good quality, hard. Anglo-Arabs tend to be white, brown and red, always with badges. They are 155-163 cm at the withers.

Use of the Anglo-Arab breed

Anglo-Arabians are fast, hardy horses and excellent jumpers. This predestines them especially for military competitions. They are also used in horse racing and other equestrian disciplines. In France, they behave mainly as Olympic horses and have won quite a few medals.

These horses combine the best qualities of Arabian and English horses. They are fast, persistent and undemanding. They have an athletic build, they jump well. They are also durable, tough and versatile. They stand out for their intelligence and good controllability.
