It has a long, narrow and deep body. Its head with a broad skull and short nose resembles that of an otter. Its ears are small, V-shaped and folded forward. Its legs are straight but not very strong. The tail is relatively short, set high and carried jauntily in motion.

History of the Border Terrier breed

The first Border Terrier-like dogs appeared in the late 17th century on the border of England and Scotland. It was mainly used to hunt foxes. Until 1880, when the breed's name was established, he was often called the Reedwater Terrier. It was recognised as a breed in the first half of the 20th century.
