Advantages - why get a Beagle

The Beagle is an excellent choice due to its friendly and affectionate nature, and this makes it a great companion for families with children. This breed is intelligent, teachable and energetic and is suited for an active lifestyle and various outdoor activities. Beagles have a strong hunting instinct and can be an asset to owners who are interested in tracking and other similar activities. In addition, due to their size, they are easy to handle and suitable for apartment living and in a house with a garden. Last but not least, Beagles are relatively healthy dogs with an average lifespan of around 12-15 years.

Disadvantages - why not get a Beagle

The Beagle can be challenging to train due to its independent and stubborn nature and requires a patient and consistent owner. Their strong hunting instinct and exceptional sense of smell can lead to a tendency to run away and follow interesting scents, and this in turn requires secure fencing and supervision when out walking. The Beagle is also prone to loud barking and howling. Their high energy levels and need for physical and mental stimulation can be challenging for owners who do not have enough time for regular walks and activities. In addition, they may suffer from health problems (hip dysplasia, epilepsy and back problems).
